Coaching ADHD & Neurodiverse people to thrive, to lead and feel more at home in how they think
You're intelligent, capable — and quietly exhausted from adapting. I help neurodivergent adults understand how their brain actually works, reduce overwhelm, and build strategies that genuinely fit their life.
“I kept calm, didn’t fumble, and got all my points across. Teammates contacted me afterwards to say what a good job I had done for them in that meeting. Being able to pull that off with all the other pressures at the moment is a real credit to Alexa.”
- COACHING CLIENT, SENIOR PROFESSIONAL

ABOUT ME
Dr Alexa Smith
I hold a PhD in Developmental Neurobiology from UCL and am an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) — with nearly 1,000 hours of coaching experience with neurodiverse adults. Before founding my practice, I held senior leadership roles at AstraZeneca, Cancer Research UK and UCL Business. I know the environments my clients are navigating — because I've been in them. I'm also neurodivergent myself, which shapes everything about how I listen, what I ask, and how I help.
My approach is warm, direct, and grounded in deep listening. I bring together science, practical tools, and genuine understanding — because I know from the inside what it takes to navigate a world that wasn't built for your brain.
WHO I WORK WITH
You don't need a diagnosis to work with me
Adults with ADHD
Working with - not against - how your brain manages attention, time and energy.
Autistic adults
Navigating workplaces, relationships, and systems that weren't built with you in mind.
AuDHD and mixed profiles
AuDHD describes people who are both autistic and have ADHD — a frequently co-occurring combination with its own distinct profile.
Exploring or newly diagnosed
Making sense of a diagnosis — or starting to wonder if one might fit. You don't need a label to begin.
Many of the people I work with have spent a long time feeling like they're just about holding everything together — juggling demands, missing deadlines, or wondering why things that seem easy for others feel so hard. If that sounds familiar, you're in the right place.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a diagnosis to work with Dr Alexa Smith?
No — and this is something I feel strongly about. Many of the people I work with are mid-assessment, on a waiting list, or simply recognising patterns in how they think and work without having a formal label yet. I work with people at all stages: those with a diagnosis of ADHD, autism, AuDHD, dyslexia, or dyspraxia, and those who are just beginning to make sense of how their brain works. What matters is not the diagnosis — it's understanding yourself well enough to build a life and a way of working that actually fits.
How is Dr Alexa Smith's coaching different from therapy?
Therapy typically explores past experiences. My work is different — it's forward-looking. We focus on where you are now, where you want to get to, and what's getting in the way. I bring a scientific understanding of how neurodivergent brains work — grounded in my PhD in developmental neurobiology from UCL — alongside my ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) accreditation and continual professional development and my own lived experience as a neurodivergent person. Coaching isn't a substitute for mental health support, but many of my clients find it a powerful complement to therapy, or a helpful next step once they're ready to focus on practical change.
What happens in a discovery call with Dr Alexa Smith?
A discovery call is a free, informal 45-minute conversation — no commitment, no pressure, no form-filling. It's a chance for you to tell me what's going on, ask anything you want to know about how I work, and get a feel for whether working together seems like the right fit. I'll listen carefully and be honest with you about whether I think coaching can help. If it feels right for both of us, we'll talk about next steps. If it doesn't, I'll say so — and I may be able to suggest other options that might suit you better.
Does Dr Alexa Smith work with clients outside the UK?
Yes. I'm based in the UK but I work with all my clients online via video call, which means I work with neurodivergent adults across the UK and internationally — including clients in Europe, North America, and beyond. Many of my clients actually find online sessions easier to manage than in-person ones, and the flexibility around location and scheduling makes a real difference. All sessions are in English.
Wondering if coaching might help?
